Average Nutrient Removal Rates for Crops in the Northcentral Region

Multiply the values in the table by yield to calculate total nutrient removal.

1Moisture for reported units is based on marketing conventions or on a hay or wet silage basis. Values are limited to Northcentral regional publications whenever possible.

References for Nutrient Removal Rates

*A constant was calculated to convert the bu basis to the ton basis. For each nutrient, average per ton removal rates were divided by average per bu removal rates, using the references listed. The constant was calculated by averaging these ratios across all nutrients for which references existed.

**A constant was calculated to convert the ton unit basis to the bu or cwt bases. For each nutrient, average per bu or per cwt removal rates were divided by average per ton removal rates, using the references listed. The constant was calculated by averaging these ratios across all nutrients for which references existed.
